Exchange Program Transfer Credit
The Faculty of Arts encourages and supports our students in all of their educational pursuits, including the opportunity to study abroad. The University's Education Abroad program offers many exciting options, including exchange programs with fellow universities all around the world. We encourage you to explore the Education Abroad website for details on studying abroad and application procedures.
To assist you in your research, the Faculty of Arts has listed transfer credit information from some of the more popular institutions for Arts students. Please note: we are only providing information about recent Faculty of Arts course work completed abroad. You can choose to go to one of these institutions and take other courses than what we have listed, and it is possible that you will be eligible for credit in the new courses once we evaluate them. However, given the number of students who go abroad, and the complexity of the transfer credit evaluations, the Faculty cannot pre-assess credit before you leave. Instead, we will endeavor to provide as much information as possible once your registration is complete and you send us course syllabi that detail the content of your courses (including the number of hours of instruction). If you plan on taking some courses offered by the Faculty of Science, please refer to their corresponding website for course equivalents.
As well, this transfer credit only represents possible credit in your program (we cannot make any guarantees before you leave). Final credit determination will and must take into account the individual requirements that you have left to complete in your degree program. The Faculty will try to give you the maximum amount of transfer credit as long as it meets program requirements. However, it is possible that you will not receive credit for some work if it does not fit in your program, or because a course does meet transfer requirements (for example: not enough hours of instruction).
Please consult the University Calendar for further details on your program, or request a Program Check from the Faculty of Arts Undergraduate Student Services office (6-5 Humanities Centre). As well, if you are interested in attending a university not listed here, consult with an advisor in our office who can provide more details on previous credit assessments (if any) from that institution.
